Where To Go As A Taurus Traveller

Let me be honest with you: I didn't understand astrology travel content until I looked back at every trip I'd loved and realised they all had the same things in common.

Long lunches that stretched past sunset. Markets I could smell before I saw them. Somewhere beautiful to just sit, unhurried, with something good to eat and nowhere to be.

Turns out that's just Taurus travel. And if your birthday falls between April 20 and May 20, you already know exactly what I'm talking about.

You're not after chaos (well, mostly...). You're not here for 5am buses and budget hostels that smell like regret. You want to feel somewhere. The weight of a good linen shirt. The specific warmth of Mediterranean sun on stone. The sound of a language you don't speak but somehow understand through the food.

Here's where to go.

Italy

This one barely needs an explanation. Italy is, essentially, a country built for Taurus energy. The entire culture is organised around the pleasure of slowing down: three-hour lunches, handmade pasta that takes a grandmother four decades to perfect, wine from grapes grown in soil that tastes like the earth itself.

Tuscany is the obvious answer and it's obvious for a reason. Rolling golden hills, cypress trees, farmhouses that have stood for centuries. You will drink Brunello at a table outdoors and wonder why you ever rushed anywhere.

But don't sleep on the Amalfi Coast for scenery that physically stops you in your tracks, or Bologna for eating that will ruin every other city for you.

Thailand

Thailand does something clever: it gives you the luxury resort and the street food cart and somehow neither one cancels the other out.

You can stay somewhere with an infinity pool overlooking jungle, walk fifteen minutes, and eat the best pad krapao of your life for the price of a coffee back home. That balance, indulgence without guilt, pleasure at every price point, is deeply Taurus-coded.

The spa culture here is world-class and affordable in ways that feel almost unreasonable. A four-hour traditional Thai massage on Koh Samui will reset something in your body that you didn't know was broken.

France

France rewards people who care. And Taurus cares deeply, about quality, about craft, about the difference between something made properly and something made cheaply.

The wine regions alone are worth the trip. Burgundy in harvest season, Bordeaux in the quiet months when the crowds thin out and the light goes golden and everything smells faintly of oak and fermentation. The countryside moves slowly here in the best possible way.

Paris scratches the art and architecture itch. Provence scratches everything else.

Turkey

Turkey is the sensory one. The one that hits you from every direction simultaneously and somehow, impossibly, feels comforting rather than overwhelming.

Istanbul's Grand Bazaar smells of spice and leather and something sweet you can't identify. The food is extraordinary in the specific way that cuisines built on centuries of trade routes always are, layered, rich, generous. The hammam experience is a Taurus non-negotiable: heat, marble, stillness, total surrender to comfort.

Cappadocia for landscape. The Aegean coast for a slower rhythm. Istanbul for the full immersive chaos of a city that's been at the centre of the world for a very long time.

Spain

The Spanish way of life is essentially a Taurus manifesto written in sangria and seafood. Dinner doesn't start until 9pm. Markets overflow with colour and noise and the smell of jamón. Beaches are treated as serious destinations, not afterthoughts.

The Mediterranean coast is exactly as good as everyone says, but San Sebastián is where a Taurus with a serious food obsession should go first. The pintxos culture there, hopping from bar to bar eating tiny perfect things, is one of the most genuinely pleasurable travel experiences I've ever had.

Greece

Simple, grounding, gorgeous. Greece strips travel back to its essentials: water this shade of blue, food this fresh, light this particular quality of gold in the late afternoon.

The islands each have their own personality. Crete for food and history and size. Naxos for authentic island life without the Santorini crowds. Milos for landscapes that look like something out of a dream you haven't had yet.

Everything is unhurried. The pace is not slow because nothing works, it's slow because everyone has decided together that this is the better way to live.

Portugal

Portugal is the one I recommend most often to people who haven't been, because it surprises everyone.

The light here is different from anywhere else in Europe. Golden and heavy and somehow older-feeling. Lisbon has the azulejos, the steep hills, the pastéis de nata that you'll eat at least four of before you admit you've lost count. The Douro Valley has port wine produced on terraced hillsides above a river that reflects the vineyard colours back at you.

Affordability aside, Portugal just has a warmth to it. A welcome. For a sign that thrives on genuine comfort, that matters.

Montenegro

The underrated one on this list. Montenegro is doing something genuinely interesting: it has superyacht marinas sitting directly next to medieval stone towns that have barely changed in five centuries. The contrast shouldn't work and it completely does.

The Bay of Kotor from above, tiny boats on water so still it looks painted, surrounded by mountains that drop straight into the sea, is one of the more beautiful things I've seen anywhere. And the tourist crowds are still a fraction of what you'd find in Croatia or Greece.

Go now, before everyone else figures it out.

Singapore

Singapore appeals to a very specific Taurus instinct: the one that appreciates when things are done properly.

The city is immaculate, genuinely green (Gardens by the Bay is not a tourist trap, it's actually extraordinary), and completely obsessed with food in a way that feels culturally serious rather than performative. The hawker centre culture means you can eat Michelin-recognised food for under ten dollars, standing at a plastic table, in 30-degree heat, feeling genuinely content.

It's also, practically speaking, one of the safest and most comfortable cities on earth. For a sign that values security and ease, that baseline matters more than it might seem.

Switzerland

This is the premium reset destination. When a Taurus needs to genuinely decompress, to be somewhere beautiful that also functions with impeccable reliability, Switzerland delivers every time.

The alpine landscapes are almost aggressively stunning. Pristine lakes, mountain air that feels medicinal, trains that run on time and take you past scenery you'd frame as a photograph. The cheese and chocolate alone justify the cost of the trip if you're willing to lean into the cliché.

The wellness culture here is serious: thermal baths, altitude hiking, silence. Very different from Thai spa indulgence but equally restorative in a more austere way.

Malta

The slowest one on the list. Malta is small enough to feel contained and old enough to carry real weight, the honey-coloured limestone architecture has been here since the Knights of St John and it looks it.

The food is Mediterranean with Arabic and British influence layered in, which sounds odd and tastes genuinely interesting. The sea is very blue and very close. The pace is unhurried in the specific way of islands that have always been surrounded by water and have accepted what that means about time.

If you want somewhere to genuinely unwind, to read, eat well, swim in clear water, and do nothing that requires a plan, Malta will deliver without demanding anything back.

The Common Thread?

Every destination on this list offers some version of the same thing: beauty that's earned through slowness. Food that rewards attention. A pace that doesn't punish you for wanting to actually be somewhere rather than just move through it.

That's taste.

Save this for your next trip. You've earned it.
